EMDR Therapy in Los Angeles

A research-backed approach that helps your brain process and heal from the experiences that are still holding you back.

WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE

EMDR therapy begins with a thorough history and preparation phase, where your therapist builds a treatment plan and teaches you stabilization skills before processing begins. This ensures you feel safe and grounded throughout the work.

Processing sessions involve gently activating a target memory while your therapist guides you through bilateral stimulation. Most clients report feeling lighter, less reactive, and more resolved after successful processing. EMDR can be used alongside other therapeutic approaches and is available in-person or via telehealth.

WHAT IS EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured, evidence-based therapy originally developed to treat trauma and PTSD. Decades of research have shown it to be one of the most effective treatments available for processing distressing memories and experiences.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to describe traumatic events in detail. Instead, it uses guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while you briefly focus on a distressing memory. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory so it no longer triggers the same intense emotional or physical response.

WHAT EMDR HELPS WITH

Trauma and PTSD, childhood abuse or neglect, anxiety and panic, phobias, grief and loss, relationship trauma, sexual trauma, imposter syndrome and self-esteem issues, birth trauma, and complex PTSD.
